Description
Lady Anne Barnard was the author of the popular Scottish ballad, 'Auld Robin Gray'. In 1797, her husband Andrew Barnard was appointed Colonial Secretary of the Cape and the couple set sail to South Africa. For five years she acted as First Lady to the colony and made a great impression on the Dutch-speaking citizens as well as visiting dignitaries. This wine, made in tribute to this great lady, is simultaneously elegant and crowd-pleasing. There's lots of cassis and vanilla aromas and flavours that are perfectly supported by supple tannins and fresh acidity.
