Tasting Notes
This was the top scoring Ontario wine in the huge red blend category at the 2013 Nationals; a fitting tribute to a wine launched in 1999 by a Bordeaux-trained winemaker (JL Groux now at Stratus) convinced Niagara had the chops to make big reds. Under Aussie-trained winemaker Craig MacDonald it has hit great precision and near perfect ripeness; showcasing classic currant-raspberry, tobacco and oak driven spice. The length and focus are excellent. Best 2016 to well beyond 2020. Score - 91. (David Lawrason, winealign.com, Sept. 04, 2013)
