Tasting Notes
A brilliant year in Bordeaux, unquestionably. It's the youngest vintage in the lineup, and the colour has deepened and closed in on itself, getting to an inky purple at this point. The nose is not giving too much away, although traces of sweet oak are evident, as with the 2005 - not overly so, but adding gourmet complexity. On the palate you are struck by two things: tight black fruits and rich tannins, mainly because up to this point everything has been so open and welcoming. Cassis and hawthorn notes sit alongside liquorice, rosemary, pepper and dark chocolate. The balance is again extremely well handled, even if the structure seems bigger than classic Talbot. It has wonderful potential ahead of it, and it's hard to bet against this lasting for many decades. It demands that you enjoy some of its older siblings before arriving at its door.
