Tasting Notes
The 2010 Amayna Sauvignon Blanc Barrel Fermented, from their oldest vineyards from calcareous soils, starts fermenting in stainless steel and finishes fermentation in new Taransaud barrels. At the moment it is very oaky, with creamy, sweet notes of oak, vanilla, a lactic touch of marzipan and almonds and plenty of yellow fruit, orange rind, tangerine, echoes of Muscat grapes and honey. Ideal for blue fish, like salmon, this should age quite well and absorb the oak. We tasted a 2007, which was still going strong, and the wood was still quite obvious. This is not really my style, but it's very good. Drink now through 2018. Score - 90. (Luis Gutierrez, erobertparker.com, June 2014)
