Description
Vranec is a grape variety that has long been a specialty of Macedonia. It's one of those little-known grapes that is well worth discovering. It makes deeply coloured, richly extracted wines that respond well to oak ageing. Expect this bold wine to pair well with grilled lamb or game meats. It will also reward 2-4 years in a cellar.
Tasting Notes
Herbs spices red and black cherry all feature on the nose giving it lots of complexity. There is sweet fruit in the middle giving a softer richer quality and as the tannins feel ripe the back palate has suppleness. Spicy red fruits refresh the finish. Drink 2012-18. Score - 91.
