Description
Paretai Sauvignon Blanc is Matua Valley's flagship wine, and is usually sourced from their Northbank Vineyard on the side of Wairau River. To retain the fruit's bright flavours, it is not barrel-aged, but the juice is allowed to rest on the lees for an extended period of time to add complexity and fleshiness. Look for rich gooseberry, asparagus, grapefruit and mineral aromas and flavours. An ideal wine for lightly spiced seafood platters or a grilled vegetarian spread.
Tasting Notes
Rich, concentrated wine with an array of gooseberry, lemon grass, nectarine, nettle and subtle tropical flavours. Fruit sweetness is nicely balanced by crisp acidity. Powerful wine with an impressively lingering finish. Score - 93. (Bob Campbell, MW, bobswinereviews.com, Oct. 2012)
