Tasting Notes
This is the standout wine among this group of new releases from Barale Fratelli. The 2014 Barolo Bussia Sergio Barale shows a dense and tightly knit texture that is interwoven with notes of dried berry, grilled herb, licorice and cola. The primary fruit intensity is dim and low-key, and this Barolo offers those dry and dusty tannins that I associate with long oak aging in botte. In fact, this wine ages in large oak casks for three years. There is some bitterness on the close that needs to relax with time. Drink date: 2020-2035. Score - 93.
