This is only the third vintage of this wine. The blend is the 'winemaker's secret,' but the base wine is Shiraz. Winemaker Kevin Grant prefers that place takes precedence over grape variety, so he sources fruit from exceptional sites throughout the Cape. A meat-based family-recipe that only you know all the ingredients to is therefore a must food match.
Tasting Notes
Deft rather than soulful, 07 unspecified red blend ... Rich aromas [of chocolate], cassis; palate on the lean side yet succulent & savoury, [good] tannic structure abetted by 11 mths oak, 35% new. Score - 4 Stars (out of 5). (Tim James, Platter's South African Wine Guide, 2010)
