TASTING NOTE: The 2008 Carracedo, sourced from 80- to 100-year-old Mencia vines, was aged for 24 months in new French oak. It displays brooding black fruits, Asian spices, leather, and mineral notes leading to an opulent, layered wine with excellent volume and a lengthy, fruit-filled finish. Give it 3-4 years to fully blossom and drink it from 2014 to 2023. Score: 92 (Jay Miller, erobertparker.com, June 2011)
