Description
Since 1850, the Besancenot family have been coaxing fine Pinot Noir from the soils of Beaune for six generations. This 2013 is sourced from the Clo du Roi and raised without insecticides. You can expect to discover a balanced and refined wine with raspberry, black fruit, spice, underbrush and well-gauged oak influences. This will be a classically styled expression with the structure for roast beef or duck.
Tasting Notes
From the fine 2009 vintage comes this beautifully structured Beaune 1er Cru with aromas of intense cherry, raspberry, underbrush and a light toastiness. Dry and structured with a good balance between the fruit, acids and tannins. There is a round and almost sweet centre that brings another intriguing layer to this wine. The finish is long, crisp and fruity. Enjoy this over the next 5 years with roast beef au jus or grilled lamb chops. (VINTAGES panel, May 2011)
