Lambrusco is a grape that produces light red wines that can be fresh, fruity and delightfully quaffable. All Lambrusco Reggiano wines are also slightly sweet and almost always bubbly. Up to 15% of the grape Ancellotta is permitted in these wines as they add colour and finesse to these crowd-pleasers. In the hands of a skilled winemaker, such as Ermete Medici, Lambrusco can produce exceptional wine - as the perfect Three Glasses awarded by Gambero Rosso in their 2011 guide attests (the review is not yet available in English).

The 2020 Vino Frizzante Secco Rosso Lambrusco Concerto pulls you close, with a sweetly scented bouquet of violet candies and lavender giving way to blueberry tinged with hints of tangerine. This impresses with its incredible balance. It comes across as silky with a pleasant inner sweetness, yet also concentrated and primary, as masses of ripe berries and spices saturate the palate. The 2020 tapers off dry and persistent, leaving purple-tinged inner florals and the slightest tug of tannin that frames the experience remarkably well.
