Description
Appellation d'Origine Protégée (or AP) is very similar to the French AC system, but it is one recognized throughout the European Union. It is an attempt to create a universal appellation system for all countries in the EU. Each country will have a different name (e.g., in Italy it is called DOP), but identical rule criterion. This is a voluntary change, but early reports suggest that to prevent confusion all appellations will adopt the change. This Saint-Véran is the first in our market to be so labelled.
Tasting Notes
The nose offers aromas of vanilla, apples and white peach. Bone dry, medium bodied and deliciously consistent with the nose. Beautifully balanced with bright acidity and a lovely finish. Enjoy with grilled fish or chicken in a cream sauce. (Add a splash of the wine to the cream sauce to give it a little extra zing.) (VINTAGES panel, July 2010)
