The 2005 Falset Old Vines is composed of 85% Garnacha and 15% Cabernet Sauvignon aged in French oak, 50% new. Purple colored, it emits a superb aromatic array of slate/mineral, dried herbs, spice box, pencil lead, and black cherry. Full-bodied and layered on the palate, it has vibrant acidity and well integrated oak. Rich, succulent, and pleasure-bent, it can be enjoyed now but will improve in the bottle over the next several years. It is an exceptional value. Score - 91.
