Tasting Notes
DO Bairrada lies west of the better-known Dão region, cooled by Atlantic breezes and populated by the distinctive baga vine, an ancient, indigenous and defiantly thick-skinned grape variety. Very dense and concentrated. You don't expect to get this intensity at this price. Lovely stuff - not too austere. Masses of fruit. Long with some development. Much friendlier than the more purist Bairradas, though it may be wooing favour with some international grapes. A little chewy but very healthy. Very good value. Drink: 2008-2013.
