Tasting Notes
From late-harvested grapes comes this fine, very quaffable Primitivo. Aromas of mincemeat, blueberry, spun sugar and dried cherry. A touch off-dry, it's crowd-pleasing and gives a hint of the Cali style (Primitivo is the same grape as Zinfandel), yet still has Italian sensibilities. Forward fruit and silky tannins means it will drink very well now. Try it with barbecued back ribs in a rich sauce, or a gourmet sundried-tomato pizza. (VINTAGES panel, Aug. 2011)
