The vines from Amador county are 100 years-old, and the vines from Napa County are 45 years-old.
Tasting Notes
Seasoned wood, licorice and underbrush but there is still a bright and youthful quality to the fruit, particularly of black cherry. Cola and black cherry flavours with big tannins and spice. Though the tannins are impressive and considerable there is sufficient support offered by the acidity and the fresh ripe fruit to make this come across as a gentle giant. Enjoy this complex and delicious wine with herb encrusted grilled steak, or pulled pork. (VINTAGES panel, July 2013)
