Tasting Notes
The B�rgerspital estate, one of the oldest in Germany, dates to 1316, with the first vines planted in 1321. Tradition and attention to detail are key, as can be seen even in the use of a traditional-shaped bottle. The best examples of Silvaner are found in Franken, where the clay-limestone soils and cool climate promote wines with considerable body and structure. This one is fragrant and ripe with crisp acidity, white pepper spice and a fine mineral undertone. Try this with a shellfish stew, shrimp or grilled rainbow trout. (Vintages panel, March 2017)
