To create a new expression of a whisky distiller's product, an independent bottler, such as Gordon & McPhail, will purchase casks of malts from producers, mature them in their own cellars and bottle them under their schedule. In this case, Gordon & McPhail purchased this cask from Dailuaine from the 1997 distillation and aged it until 2011. Though it still has signature aromas and flavours of Dailuaine, it will not reflect their house style because it is from only one cask (in-house Single Malts are usually a blend of several malts from one distiller to create a house flavour profile). Dailuaine is probably best known as a major part of all levels of the Johnnie Walker blends.
