April 14, 2012 marks the 100th anniversary of the sinking of the passenger ocean liner the RMS Titanic on its maiden voyage. The ship was stocked with dozens of cases of wine when it went down, including many fine Burgundies. Many Titanic-themed parties and gatherings will be occurring this weekend, so a classic wine like this is perhaps the perfect way to toast those who lost their lives on that fateful voyage. Look for pleasant cherry, earth and vanilla tones, all crafted in a soft frame for sipping or enjoyment with a special dinner of your own choosing.
Tasting Notes
Full, fat, ripe, perfumed wine that is full of rich red fruits, plums and strawberries. It also has a stylish structured with refined tannins as well as a dense texture. It's a wine for aging over at least 5-7 years. Score - 91. (Roger Voss, Wine Enthusiast, Nov. 2013)
