Tasting Notes
Argentina is not yet well-known for Syrah, but the wines coming out of San Juan are nothing short of spectacular, so it's only a matter of time. The nose here is dense and somewhat subtle with tar, plum, blackberry, pepper, smoked meat and leather notes peeking through. On the palate it over-delivers with a cellar-worthy structure supporting a spicy black fruit core along with notes of cloves, pepper and mocha. A fantastically priced cellar-starter for short-term ageing (2-4 years), or serve now with steaks blackened and grilled rare. (VINTAGES panel, Jan. 2012)
