This is what the Languedoc is all about. Suggestions of mixed berries, smoke, tar, coffee, black tea, and balsam greet the nose. A blend of Syrah, Grenache and Carignana, it's medium bodied with a soft texture and delightful flavours of ripe blackberry, raspberry, plum and spices leading to a long cedary finish. This is a quaffable red to have handy around the barbecue this summer, especially with smoky ribs or blackened chicken. (VINTAGES panel, Sept. 2011)
