TASTING NOTE: A blend of pinot noir and chardonnay grown in the Gaspereau Valley with a remarkable seven years on the lees, the 2005 Benjamin Bridge Method Classique is an absolutely brilliant follow up to the 2004; with each release this wine reaches new heights of class and quality. A pale copper tinge speaks nothing to the freshness, poise and elegance of this bubbly, which seems to have barely stepped out of the gates. Yeasty, brioche (autolysis) notes are present, but just a subtle part of the ensemble, which is driven more authoritatively by rivetingly tight and focused citrus and green apple fruit. The palate is bone dry and tightly wound, yet neither lean nor shrill - there's a fullness and concentration here that underscores attentive viticulture and ultra low yields.
