Maturing, but all the better for it, Morellino that is drinking perfectly right now. Look for raspberry preserves, smoked meat, dried herbs, baked apple, spice and cherry aromas. Dry and quite fruit forward with soft tannins and a fairly crisp mid palate. Warm red fruit and racy acidity come forward on the lengthy finish. Nice counter programming for saucy ribs and roast suckling pig, or, for a more conventional match, gourmet burgers with side dish of pasta in a tomato/basil sauce. (VINTAGES panel, May 2012)
