Increasingly, California fine-wine producers are eschewing grape variety names on their labels and using proprietary names instead that give a sense of the place or style of wine. This new philosophy is behind Bennett Lane's naming this wine 'Maximus Red Feasting Wine.'

Tasting Notes
This 'red feasting wine' is 65 percent cabernet sauvignon, 20 percent merlot, 10 percent syrah and 5 percent malbec. Colored a dark brick red, with a spicy nose of cinnamon and black pepper, this wine is plush with rich blackberry flavors. Score - 3 Stars (out of 4). (Bill Daley, Chicago Tribune, April 20, 2010)
