Tasting Notes
The 2008 The Prospector Syrah was aged in American and French oak for 16 months. It has a very backward nose at the moment that is austere at first with cedar, tobacco and sandalwood dominating more than the fruit that is more tangible on the palate. This Syrah has a fleshy texture, good weight and focus with ripe black fruits in synch with the new oak. It bides its time, opening gradually, responding to aeration and therefore, I recommend affording this Syrah another twelve months in bottle and enjoy the Bradgate 2009 for now. Drink: 2013-2018.
