This unique small production line Scotch is finished in casks used to age Super Tuscan red wines. Artein is Scottish Gaelic for stone.
Tasting Notes
Nose: To start there's some bracken before it sweetens into hard toffee and then waves of fruits. All very exotic and fragrant with notes of sweet vanilla and chocolate. Palate: Sweet, there's a good elegant maturity and lots of spice. Finish: Rosehip syrup. Comment: Unlike other double matured samples here this shows integration and is distillate rather than wood driven. Special Designation: Editor's Choice. Score - 90.
