Tasting Notes
VSV denotes a very special vintage from a special vineyard. This is a 4-acre block (1.8 ha) planted in 1885 by the Schrapel family (now six generations of residence), matured for 18 months in French oak hogsheads; 700 dozen bottles produced, which (mathematically) equals 7.95 tonnes per acre. Hmmm. It has very good colour, and delicious dark berry and plum fruit, fine tannins and obvious oak; the last will soon integrate. Drink until 2034. Score - 94.
