The 2009 Malbec (60%) - Tannat (40%) blend was aged in French and American oak for 12 months. Smoke, lavender, and other floral aromas mingle with notions of tar, licorice, black cherry, and blackberry. Savory, ripe, spicy and with enough underlying structure to evolve for another 2-3 years, this unusual concoction will be at its best from 2013 to 2019. It is an outstanding value. Score - 90.
