Description
Pi-3.1415 is the size, in hectares, of the plot of Concejón (also known as Moristel and thought to be related to Tempranillo) from which this wine is crafted, from vines in excess of 80 years of age. This grape is grown virtually nowhere outside of Aragón, which makes this 100% Concejón a truly unique experience. Expect dark fruit, spice and mineral notes with an oaky overtone.
Tasting Notes
The 2008 Langa PI 3.1416 refers to the size of a parcel, in hectares, of Concejon (a native variety thought to be a clone of Tempranillo) from which this wine was produced. The wine is 100% Concejon with a vine age of 80 years that was aged for 12 months in new French oak. It offers up an exceptionally fragrant nose of pain grille, mineral, Asian spices, black cherry, and black raspberry. Layered on the palate, bordering on opulent, it has enough structure to evolve for 2-3 years and will deliver optimum drinking from 2013 to 2020. It is an outstanding value. Score - 91.
