A pretty nose with violets in the vanguard of an impressive host of aromas, including (but not limited to) cassis, cherry, blueberry, vanilla, chocolate and woodsmoke. The palate shows the ripeness and intensity of 2009, with the oak to match. Well structured with ripe tannins and food-friendly balancing acidity. This will please through 2020, but will be delicious tonight, decanted, with a thick steak. (VINTAGES panel, April 2013)
