Description
Carignane (Carignan in France) is one of the most widely planted grape varieties in the world. When it is properly pruned and sourced from low-yielding old vines, such as with this version, it results in lovely blackberry-, cedar- and floral-scented wines. The fruit is well balanced by a seam of acidity, and ripe tannins. Enjoy with roast beef and roasted potatoes.
Tasting Notes
A complex nose of dark cherry, raspberry, strawberry, spice, toffee, mocha, vanilla and smoke. Good structure and presence in the mouth with nice replays and an emerging tartness to the cherry tones. Very dry finish. (VINTAGES panel, Oct. 2014)
