Tasting Notes
The Gassmanns' 2007 Auxerrois Rotleibel - grown in iron-rich Marne chalk - boasts an accentuation of the creaminess and nut paste richness that characterize so many wines at this address - whether from Auxerrois, Pinot Blanc, or Sylvaner - allied to the core of refreshment that helps counterbalance the confectionary side of Gassmann's equation. Impingement of nutmeg and ginger as well as wafting perfume of sweetbriar and orange blossom add haunting allure, and despite 45 grams of residual sugar, the soothing, memorably long finish here tastes only subtly sweet.
