TASTING NOTE: From the original (i.e., pre-1971) Goldgrube, Vollenweider's 2007 Wolfer Goldgrube Riesling Spatlese A.P. #2 offers aromas of very ripe pear, musk melon, and grapefruit. Exuberantly fruit-filled, refreshing, yet satin-textured, this polished, mouth-filling Spatlese is scarcely less delicate than Vollenweider's Kabinett. A saline, savory, saliva-inducing finish scores extremely high on the saliva-inducing umami scale, and should be worth following for at least 8-10 years.
