Tasting Notes
Erzeugerabfüllung (say that three times fast) means the wine is estate bottled. This plucky Pinot comes from Germany's southerly Baden region, which shows in the fullness of the fruit. Lovely aromas of stewed strawberry, dark cherry, beetroot, spice and vanilla echo with clarity on the palate, and there's an attractive smoky flourish to the finish. Savour with chicken thighs in a garlic-sage rub, or autumn stews with sausage. (VINTAGES panel, March 2013)
