Tasting Notes
The Maoiri word Wairau translates to 'many waters.' The Wairau Valley, the largest and warmest of the three sub-regions within the world-famous Marlborough growing area, takes its name from the 170 km-long Wairau River, which influences not only the climate here but also the diversity of soil types. This 2014 from Astrolabe is ripe and soft with black and red cherry tones and a graphite minerality. Rich, balanced and long. (VINTAGES panel, Feb. 2016)
