Tasting Notes
'Mazuelo' is the Spanish name for Carignan, a late-ripening variety that flourishes in (indeed requires) hot climates such as that found in Navarra. Complex and evocative on the nose with big fruit notes. Impressive balance and concentration on the palate with well-applied oak and plenty of sweet, ripe and spicy fruit and a very dry finish. A big wine in every way, except price. (VINTAGES panel, May 2014)
