'Quintarelli' is a name that is virtually interchangeable with 'superlative.' There are few names so revered, so truly iconic and so readily identified with quality, tradition and artisanal winemaking. The care, precision and, above all, the patience that goes into making the wines of Quintarelli play no small part in creating the legendary, almost mythical status that the wines own. The primarily old-vine Cabernet Franc Alzero is made using the appassimento technique, in which the grapes are dried before being pressed and made into wine. The style embodies the uncompromising perfection that lies at the heart of these phenomenal, concentrated, intensely flavoured handmade wines that routinely earn ratings in the 90-97-point range from many of the world's most respected critics.

Tasting Notes
A blend of 40% Cabernet Franc, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon and 20% Merlot, the 2007 Alzero is an Amarone-inspired red blend. The two Cabernet varieties undergo a three-month appassimento process and the Merlot is added at the last minute before bottling. This last grape adds a very evident layer of cherry sweetness and softness that goes a long way in defining this wine. Alzero has been in production since 1983 and no vintage has ever been skipped. This is a dark and brooding expression with a playful mix of sweet fruit intensity and dark tannic background shading. Drink Date: 2018-2035. Score - 95.
