Tasting Notes
Gianfranco Soldera is a complicated and even controversial figure, but the bottom line is that his wines are outstanding and he is one of Italy's most influential winemakers. Choosing to label this wine as an IGT rather than as a Brunello di Montalcino may be confusing for some customers, but this is 100% Sangiovese sourced from the iconic Case Basse vineyard, planted in 1972. This remains one of the world's most sought-after wines. It was aged in barrel for 48 months and is the second vintage to be released following the vandalism that saw Soldera lose over 16,500 gallons of ageing wine dating from 2007 to 2012.
