Tasting Notes |
---|
Under the same ownership as Pichon-Lalande, Bernadotte has enjoyed a solid track record for well made, at times excellent claret. Dark ruby in colour, the remarkable '05 reveals elegant, earth-driven aromas of currants, dark cherries, plums, leather, licorice, spring flowers, cedarwood, vanilla, and spice. Complex, retaining very firm, tight fruit and tannins, balanced acidity, and a beautiful hint of red currants and scorched earth on the finish. Crafted in more of a lean style yet of strictly elegant and inviting disposition, this is probably the best vintage Frédéric Rouzaud has crafted to date. 49% Cabernet Sauvignon, 48% Merlot, and 3% Cabernet Franc. Now-2017+. Score - 92. (Julian Hitner, winealign.com, Oct. 2010)
