Tasting Notes
The new release from Mike Chelini at Stony Hill is going to be a terrific bottle ofchardonnay in the fullness of time, which happily still remains the way this great oldschool estate continues to do things! The pure and youthful nose wafts from the glass in ablend of apple, lemon, a touch of bee pollen, a superb base of soil tones, a touch ofvanillin oak and a lovely topnote of spring flowers. On the palate the wine is deep, full bodied,crisp and rock solid at the core, with a very primary personality, superb acids andlovely length and grip on the dancing and totally reserved finish. This looks likely to be aclassic vintage from Stony Hill, but give it time in the cellar! 2020-2060. Score - 93+. (John Gilman, View From the Cellar, Issue 45, May/June 2013)
