The 2008 Cuatro Primos Mendoza is composed of 55% Malbec, 35% Syrah, with the balance Cabernet Sauvignon and Bonarda aged for 12 months in 50% new French oak. It surrenders a brooding bouquet exhibiting notes of wood smoke, mineral, Asian spices, incense, and assorted black fruits. In the glass it has a racy personality, some complexity, and good volume and length. This savory effort will benefit from 2-3 years of additional cellaring and offer a drinking window extending from 2013 to 2020. Score - 92. (Jay Miller, erobertparker.com, Dec. 2011)
