Tasting Notes

(Translated from the French) With the purchase of this estate in 2006, Marcel Guigal added another jewel to his richly decorated crown. Aged for 24 months in (600 litre) demi-muid barrels, this cuvée with a touch of Viognier nearly received our Coup de Coeur rating. The oak ageing has given it pretty vanilla notes, while the spice and smoke elements commingle with red berry notes. The palate shows a lot of density and structure, but also a beautiful silkiness, with pleasant licorice accents into the finish. This superb wine will require patience to fully develop in complexity.
