It's a sweet dark ale that can be aged for years in your cellar, where it will develop an ever more complex braid of roasted malts, prunes, caramel and cocoa. Imposing, aromatic, mouth-filling - there is no shortage of adjectives to describe the impression left by this imperial Belgium. Round and creamy, the mouth combines flavours of raisin, plum, caramel and ripe apple. The touch of sweetness makes it quite seductive and tempers the alcohol level. As expressive as it gets. And at 11% alcohol by volume (ABV), it definitely deserves contemplative sipping -ideally by the fireside with one or two other beer aficionados. -RateBeer 100 pts
