Tasting Notes

The 2007 Chateauneuf du Pape Marquis Anselme Mathieu is dominated by Grenache (85%). The remainder of the blend is composed of Mourvedre as well as other authorized varietals. It is a bulked up, more concentrated version of their traditional cuvee. Slightly darker ruby/plum-colored, with sweet kirsch liqueur notes intermixed with plenty of licorice, tobacco leaf, earth, and spice, this wine is rich, seductive, fleshy, medium to full-bodied, and ideal for drinking over the next 10-12 years.
