Tasting Notes

The 2012 Nuits Saint Georges 1er Cru Clos des Porrets-Saint-Georges comes from the family's almost 3.5-hectare monopole that is occupied by 50- to 60 year-old vines. This has a fantastic bouquet that sprints out of the blocks: blackberry, dark cherries and blood orange all beautifully defined. The palate is very well-balanced with succulent, ripe red berry fruit. There is more matiere evident here than in Les Chaignots with a suave, fleshy, mineral-rich finish. This has a sense of completeness already - superb. Score - 92-94.
