Tasting Notes
Zind-Humbrecht's 2008 Gewurztraminer Wintzenheim - from one plot of very old vines on gravelly soil and two parcels in the Hengst - is extremely sweet at 70 grams of residual sugar, although this fits its honey, caramel, marzipan, pink grapefruit marmalade, and litchi profusion and its opulent texture. One just needs to be looking for a V.T.-like experience. Classic rose petal wafts all the way through to a finish deftly leavened with enough acidity to successfully moderate so confectionary and confitured an impression, and possessed of welcome, saliva-inducing salinity.
