The number in this wine's name indicates that this is the 39th time this Cabernet has been produced since the introduction of the John's Blend line, which was named for founder John Glaetzer. This wine is consistently powerful, rich and intense, with dark fruit, chocolate, eucalyptus and mint notes. Pour it with mutton chops in a cocoa-and-coffee rub.

Tasting Notes
An avuncular sort of nose reminiscent of after dinner mints and their meld of bitter chocolate and mint, verging on menthol. Piercing black currant notes, too. The finely tuned tannins, wrought across 40 months in French wood, serve as a raft, guiding the flavours to a salty, astringent finish of sappy length. Drink by: 2023. Score - 90.
