About this product
Lady Anne Barnard was the author of the popular Scottish ballad , ' Auld Robin Gray '. In 1797 , her husband Andrew Barnard was appointed Colonial Secretary of the Cape and the couple set sail to South Africa . For five years she acted as First Lady to the colony and made a great impression on the Dutch - speaking citizens as well as visiting dignitaries . This wine , made in tribute to this great lady , is simultaneously elegant and crowd - pleasing . There ' s lots of cassis and vanilla aromas and flavours that are perfectly supported by supple tannins and fresh acidity .
