Free sulphur : 6 mg / L . TASTING NOTE : Loan ' s 2005 Shiraz was barrel - fermented and spent 30 months in new American oak . A saturated purple color , it exhibits an expressive perfume of smoke , Asian spices , bacon , blueberry , and blackberry liqueur . Still tightly wound on the palate , it has a tannic finish that will ultimately need to be resolved . It has plenty of fruit but whether it will come into balance remains to be seen .
