About this product
Recioto predates Amarone by centuries , but until the final processes is made in the identical manner and with the same grapes ( mostly Corvina and Rondinella ). The grapes are mat - dried following harvest , and regulations stipulate that Amarones cannot be pressed before December 1st after harvest ; Reciotos not until January 1st . That extra month creates even sweeter grapes . Producers tend not to oak age the wines as it leads to an unwanted oxidative character . This richly plummy and almost chocolaty version is great on its own , or serve with duck in a plum sauce .
